Sustainable Tourism

The first trips to the place where the core area of El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve is located today began approximately 30 years ago. Those early visitors were naturalists interested in the bird biodiversity of the area. But every time more people is interested in visiting the area to learn about the exuberant nature and see closely the unique landscapes that the cloud forest offers.

 

For this reason, we have created a new sustainable offer that aims to show the conservation and management of forest areas in the Reserve, which also supports research and education, as well as the involvement of local people in tourism as a productive alternative.

 

The project, carried out by CONANP, private landowners and community groups, as well as the Estate Secretary of Tourism, seeks to create a tourism offer that is characterized for providing unique recreational experiences that exalt the natural and cultural values of the sites, offer profitable dealings to community-owned companies and tourists’ activities are environmentally sustainable.

 

The project focuses on the design of defined and differentiated tourism products, training in skills of nature interpretation of, trail design, identification of target markets, among others.

CONANP, TNC, Ecobiosfera and El Triunfo Conservation Fund participate in the program.
